first loss, grief and trauma assessment

Based on the skill set of the managers and related staff of the facility, QCTI also undertakes additional services to improve the qualification of persons in society, to provide mental health awareness and to enhance the mental health of persons in society. The following services are designed specifically for this purpose.

General counselling for academic advisement

This is done for persons who accessed academic advisement and may need additional counselling. It is usually started internally, but an external referral is made depending on the needs of the student.

Assessment and certification services

We are aware that many individuals are already trained in a number of areas but are not certified to meet national and international standards. This service facilitates assessment in Allied Health Levels I to III.

We also provide short enhancement training to help participants through the assessment process.

Loss, grief and trauma management and counselling

This service is aligned with the skill set of the Director and other specialist staff, both internal and external. We have realised that a number of individuals are facing various losses, or have experienced traumatic events, and do not know how to access services or deal with these issues.

Through QCTI, the management of these issues begins with assessments and interactions online. Where necessary, referrals are made to other qualified external professionals so that each person receives the highest level of service.

The initial assessment is free of cost. Ongoing interactions, counselling and external counselling carry a cost that depends on the needs of the individual. No fees are charged unless the individual is comfortable that they are getting value for money and that the service is legitimate.

Mental health education and promotion

Staff aligned with QCTI take part in several mental health awareness sessions, from conferences, seminars and health fairs to external training that meets specific needs. Staff have also been engaged as speakers at various forums.

Students also take part in mental health awareness sessions as part of their practicum. Some sessions are free of cost. Some speaker arrangements carry a cost that is decided after discussion and assessment of the customer's needs.
